Sourcing

A buy board, rebuilt every night

Every under-market car in your state across dealer stock, private listings and auction lots, ranked by how sure we are of the margin.
  • An estimated margin on every car. After reconditioning, with a confidence rating, so you know how far to trust it.
  • Listed elsewhere. When the same car is advertised on more than one site, each site’s asking price sits on the card, and the ones that differ are flagged.
  • Private ads valued like dealer cars. Marketplace and other private listings are valued against the dealer market, so the margin is what you would retail it for. WA only measured currently
  • Price drops, days listed and distance from your yard on every card, with filters you can save and a shortlist for the cars you chase.

Tested on 4,000 dealer cars sold 9 to 16 October 2026, each valued by our live engine on the night its sale was recorded, before the nightly refresh, and scored against the last price each was advertised at before it sold. Each car’s own advertisement may still have been among the evidence; we are measuring the effect and will update this page. Most valuation tools never publish their accuracy. We do.

How we measure → Every test we’ve published →

The worst 10% start at 16.2% error. Every change to the engine is scored on a standing set of 500 sold cars before it goes live.

Honest by design

When the data can’t support a number, it says so

A grade on every valuation

High, Medium, Low or Very Low, and the screen says what it's built on: 9 sold, 35 live.

No price under 10 comparables

The engine returns no price and says why. We'd rather tell you than guess.

Weak values held back

Inventory hides Low and Very Low values by default and tells you how many it held back.

“Not enough” is an answer

Thin market data says so instead of printing a figure. Sales rates show only where the sales can be placed.

Questions

Frequently asked

How is a valuation calculated?

We build a market curve of price against kilometres from comparable dealer cars, both cars dealers are advertising now and cars they have recently sold, then adjust for specification. Where a specific variant has 15 or more comparable dealer cars covering its kilometres, the value comes off that variant's own curve. Every value carries a price range and a confidence grade.

How often are values refreshed?

Every night. Advertised stock is monitored continuously and the whole evidence base is rebuilt overnight, so a value reflects the previous night's market.

What happens when there are fewer than 10 comparable vehicles?

The engine returns no price and says why. In the app, if it's the car's series that leaves too few, we value it on its year and variant instead and say so. We'd rather tell you the data can't support a number than guess.

My dealership already uses MotorMetrics. How do I get in?

Ask your manager to send you an invite from the app. Your login is then linked to your dealership straight away, with the rooftops you work at, so there's no need to request access yourself.

Can I get API access?

Yes, on request. We're in early access and issue keys by hand. Tell us what you're building on the Request access page.

Why do you only price from dealer cars?

Because our customers are dealers. A dealer's retail value should come from what dealers ask and sell for. Private sales and auction results run at different prices and would pull the value away from what a dealer can actually get. You still see private ads and auction lots on Sourcing and Auctions, each valued against the dealer market.

Is my dealer data private?

Market data comes from publicly advertised stock. What you enter in the app, including pricing rules, target prices, notes and appraisals, belongs to your dealership's account and isn't shown to other dealers.
