Every under-market car, across dealers, auctions and private sellers

Every night we value the cars for sale across dealer stock, national auctions and private sellers, and rebuild the buy board: the cars priced under market, each with the estimated margin after reconditioning and how sure we are of it.

What Sourcing does

  1. Every under-market car, ranked. Dealer stock, national auction lots and private listings on one board, ranked by how sure we are of the margin, not by the raw discount.
  2. Estimated margin on every row. Our value for the car, less the asking price and a reconditioning allowance, with a confidence grade beside it.
  3. The signals that matter. Price drops, days listed, and distance from your yard, on the card.
  4. Listed elsewhere, with the price there. The same car is often advertised more than once, sometimes at a different price. Each card shows where else it is and what it asks, and flags the copy that really costs more or less.
  5. Your own board. Filters you can save, a shortlist with stages and notes, and a PPSR check on any car with a full VIN.
  6. One car at a time on your phone. Swipe right to shortlist, left to pass, tap to open the car. The night's new buys are cleared before you get to the yard.

Where the cars come from

  • Dealer stock, Australia-wide: the cars that set every price.
  • National auction catalogues, Australia-wide: valued, never used to price.
  • Private listings: measured for Western Australia today, valued against the dealer market, never used to price.

Sales are inferred from withdrawal, not confirmed transactions, and auction results are inferred from the catalogue. Counts are as at 21 October 2026.

How sure are the values?

On 4,000 dealer cars sold 9 to 16 October 2026, each valued on the night its sale was recorded, before the nightly refresh, the median error was 4.5%. Each car’s own advertisement may still have been among the evidence; we are measuring the effect and will update this page. Every margin carries a confidence grade, and Sourcing shows how many comparable cars sit behind it.

Questions

  1. What is Sourcing? Sourcing is the buy board in the MotorMetrics dealer platform. Every night it values the cars for sale across dealer stock, national auctions and private sellers, and ranks the ones priced under market, with the estimated margin after reconditioning on every row.
  2. Where do the cars come from? We monitor 240,000+ cars on sale across Australia: dealer stock Australia-wide, auction catalogues Australia-wide, and private listings, which are measured for Western Australia today. Only dealer cars set a price; private listings and auction lots are valued against the dealer market, never used to price it.
  3. How is the estimated margin worked out? Each car is valued against dealer cars of the same make, model, year and variant, sold and still listed, across the odometer. The margin is our value less the asking price and a reconditioning allowance, shown with a confidence grade for how sure we are of it.
  4. How accurate are the values? On 4,000 dealer cars sold 9 to 16 October 2026, each valued on the night its sale was recorded, before the nightly refresh, the median error was 4.5%. Every test is listed on the accuracy page.
